Knuwave Systems Investigating New Applications

Knuwave Systems provides design, development and implementation consulting services for organizations, agencies and local governments that are interested in incorporating the latest wireless technologies into their mainstream operations.

There are several small design efforts that Knuwave has assisted with, in recent projects:

- Knuwave is working with public safety agencies to come up with ways to add geographihc information services available in the town-wide GIS system to computer-assisted dispatch software. Existing radio systems are also being enhanced with digital connections provided "dedicated Voice Over IP" virtual land lines, to attach remote receivers at private wireless network points to central repeater sites.

- Knuwave is structuring multiple town sub-net sites with dedicated links to the Internet, and with Windows servers, allowing semi-autonomous subnets to operate independently, or to share town-wide private wireless network components. Public safety, DPW and town hall systems operate independently, but provide shared facilities for all other town sites.

- Knuwave is creating a town-wide IP-PBX system at these sub-net sites as well, reusiing existing digital phone hadsets in combination with new IP handsets.

- Knuwave is building in new security systems, all based on IP protocol components, including remote cameras and physical alarm systems, and providing integrated monitoring at town dispatch and other sites.
