OVERVIEW

XML-based Web Services is becoming an enabler for a new generation of applications.  Extensions to web services will allow the replacement of WAP and XHTML-based hand-help applications with a more uniform set of messaging.  Additionally, web services will provide underlying wireless communications paths with a uniform set of configuration methods, connection modes and delivery options. This will be the "glue" that will allow us to create, in effect, a very robust mesh network built out of Bluetooth piconets and scatternets, IEEE 802.11 WiFi WLAN access portals, cellular connectivity (GPRS, CDMA, EvDO, EDGE and 3G components), and underlying MAN and WAN point-to-multipoint, backhaul and mesh structures, both wired and wireless.

Knuwave has provided protocol consultation for utilization of appropriate networks structures for the prototype software components needed to create, manage and maintain the structure of TCP/IP network using a heterogeneous subset of these networks.
